First thoughts

So, this game is now available in alpha preview form here on itch.io. I felt I had reached a point at which I must have feedback from outside of my own little bubble in any way that I could get it, and so I finished up the first and arguably most important part of the game - character creation and a short explanation of the rules. This is what you can now access.

Rules design

The most important goals with Simple d100 Fantasy was to create a ruleset that circumvents the issues of other d100 games - specifically these: Attributes that are never used, the attack-parry-attack-parry endless loop in combat, the bonus calulations (what is 53 plus 25, quickly now!), complicated grades of success (you succeeded with 21% on your percentqage roll, that's an exceptional success!).

Here are my solutions:

1. I removed attributes. Simple d100 is totally skillbased. But I did add some skills that traditionally might have been attributes, such as Strength and Will.

2. There is (almost) no parry, instead an attack is made against a pre-calculated Defence value of each combattant. The closest analogy is, surprisingly, AC in dungeons and dragons, but without the armour being a factor.

3. There are no bonuses or penalties, instead there is Quality, which simply is the tens die value of your roll, if your roll succeeded. Difficulty is simply a minimum quality requirement.

4. Grades of success is measured in Quality - the higher you get the better you did. In essence Simple d100 Fantasy is a 'Roll under but as high as possible' system.
